Your role?

As a Team Lead in the App team you will be leading part of the App team engineers (3-5 mobile development engineers). This role is the first step in our Managerial path. Technical excellence is a prerequisite for you to be able to drive roadmapping, understand and empathize with our engineers. However, Team Lead should be phasing out of technical work. Your strong focus will be on managing team members, organization and improving and scaling team processes. The next career step from this role is Engineering Manager.

What you will do at Photomath:


  • Manage several (3-5) App team engineers (Android and iOS platform)
  • Understand product and company strategy and provide inputs for goal setting, prioritization and roadmapping
  • Take care that relevant communication reaches engineers at the right time and filter out unnecessary information
  • Actively propose and implement improvements in internal processes and procedures within the team

Growing our engineers

  • Have regular 1:1’s with team members, give them clear and actionable constructive feedback proactively and follow their career progress. Actively seek constructive feedback from other team members, peers and managers.
  • Create individual development plans and participate in the performance management process 
  • Identify new hiring needs, based on the current team's skills and projects' needs. Interview new candidates to join the team. Ensure team robustness and redundancy in skillset among team members
  • Help in mentoring, coaching and conflict resolution within the team and in between different teams


  • Advocate engineering excellence like high levels of code quality, best engineering practices, test coverage, optimizations etc. and motivate team members to do the same
  • Detect blind spots in team's technical plans and execution and help in removing any roadblocks 
  • Help in improving knowledge sharing and technical development of the engineers by organizing team members' educations, presentations, team stories and either executing on them or delegating to other team members
  • Be able to replace any engineer in the team in activities like roadmapping, planning, prioritization, reviews and technical decision making

In your first week you will:

  • Follow your personalized onboarding plan

In your first month you will:

  • Start having 1:1s with your team members
  • Learn about the tech stack, projects and challenges of the App team
  • Learn about the work and people in other teams
  • Learn about our culture

In first 3 months you should:

  • Propose improvements in the way how the App team work
  • Actively participate in technical and product related discussions
  • Start understanding the strengths and aspirations of your team mates
  • Enroll in our Engineering Management Academy program

In your first year expect to:

  • Conduct performance reviews which means asking for and collecting feedback, figuring out growth opportunities for your team members and giving them guidance on how to improve and grow further
  • Find opportunities to improve intra-team and cross-team processes
  • Interview new potential team members

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Strong engineering background and at least 5 years in the industry
  • At least 1 year of leadership experience as being a Team Lead
  • Track record of delivering successful products as an engineer and a team lead
  • Experience guiding the continuous improvement of processes and technology
  • Experience in providing and receiving honest but constructive feedback
  • Flexibility to work in diverse environments (in office or remotely, across different business locations and time zones, occasional flexible work hours)
  • Excellent English language skills (speaking and writing)

An additional plus is if you:

  • Have years of experience in App development (native Android or iOS)

Salary range: 

  • 31.000 - 36.000 kn gross, depending on candidate's experience
